Grants and Funding

Upon receiving a DVA grant to create a Veteran RPL Program, HE institutions are encouraged to establish a milestone map, based on the grant’s duration and achievable outcomes.

Subject to the grant criteria, grant funds may be used for the following purposes:

  • Paying professional project staff who support the veteran RPL grant project.
  • Funding academic staff to assess the LMP data.
  • Sharing with any project supporting partner organisations
  • Establishing systems required to support the program.

Each HE institution must conduct their own assessments, as they all have varying theories of practice. They must consider the time required to develop a framework for assessment and recognition of ADF training courses, including mapping the key components from ADF LMPs against their own courses.

LMP documentation can be extensive, and Academic staff will need to assess the information released by the ADF relating to each LMP individually. This assessment requires a clear understanding of their institution’s credit/RPL policy, including rules on currency of learning and the maximum credit allowed in certain degree levels. It is beneficial to involve academic assessors from the applicable schools early in this process. These academics will have an immediate understanding of their faculty’s specific course content and rules, which take precedence over any pre-approved rank packages the institution may create.
